CODY — Cody High School science teacher Dean Olenik has been nominated for National Life Group’s 2025-26 LifeChanger of the Year award. National Life Group’s LifeChanger of the Year recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 educators and school district employees across the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence, and leadership.
Olenik was nominated by the superintendent, Vernon Orndorff, for his extraordinary leadership and innovative approach to education. As part of Cody High School’s “POD” Class, Olenik facilitated a transformative learning experience by leading students in a mock “Governor’s Advisory Committee.” By conducting in-depth research and interviews, students deepened their understanding of complex community issues and developed critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
By collaborating with his colleagues in English, Outdoor Education, and Science, Olenik has created a program to fullfill academic standards and equip students with practical skills.
“His ability to inspire students and colleagues while maintaining high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct makes him a true LifeChanger in every sense of the word. For these reasons, Dean Olenik deserves recognition,” said Orndorff.
