Take a break from winter by taking a class at the Cody Country Art League.
Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced artist, there’s something for everyone. Class sizes remain small to accommodate for adequate social distancing.
On March 6-7, Ron Rogers will offer a two-day workshop, “So, You Want to Learn to Paint??” For students wanting to learn how to paint with oil or acrylic paints, Rogers is going to help launch them into painting with confidence. This class is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday, March 6 and Sunday, March 7.
Then on Saturday, March 13, retired Northwest College art instructor John Giarrizzo will offer Observational Drawing Part II. It’s for students who have already taken the intro class. This class will introduce cross-hatching and additional shading techniques, helping you to draw what you see, not what you know. This class is from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $45 ($40.50 members).
Then bring in spring in a celebratory Solstice Soul Flags class with whimsical artist Tiffani Jackson, teaching a personal, creative and colorful approach to making your own soul flags. Class is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20. Cost is $45 ($40.50 members).
More classes are coming up in April and May, with more to be announced for classes in mosaics, stained glass, alcohol inks, as well as a master class with Buffalo Bill Show artist M.C. (Mike) Poulsen. Stop by Cody Country Art League (CCAL) or call 307-587-3597 for more information or to sign up.
CCAL is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and is located next to the Visitor’s Center at 836 Sheridan Ave. in downtown Cody.
