Clark Jubilee & Rodeo raises $4K for rec center

Primary organizers of the recent Clark Jubilee & Rodeo share a feeling that volunteers aren't paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless.

Robert Weldin and Sharon Wimberg stress that without a “tremendous number” of unpaid helpers who stepped up, including Kathy Carter “and many other great people,” the 28th annual event would not have been so successful. With a silent auction, a parade and a rodeo, some $4,000 was raised for the Clark Pioneer Recreation Center although some expenses linger, said Wimberg.

But overall, participants, entrants and attendees give a four-star rating to the festivities because of “volunteers who came forward in many ways, especially at the rodeo.” The couple also lauded the more than 50 auction item donors from Clark, Powell and Cody plus the rodeo buckle sponsors as well as Canyon Realty for providing the morning donuts and coffee in the rec center.

Top parade entrants were Nicci Connell as well as  Zoe Schimpf and Shelby Bays with their renditions of the “Homesteading” theme. The “Best Motorized” award went to the Vietnam era gun truck driven by Doug Dutcher with gunners Isiah, Dave and Jake.

Special parade guests were 10-year-old Brooke Morgan, Home of Champions Princess from Red Lodge, Montana; and a Silver Tip Restaurant horse-drawn wagon from Belfry, Montana, driven by Mickey Case with passengers Jay and Kathleen, Deanna and friends.
