Clark holds annual Spring Ding

Clark’s annual Spring Ding on Saturday, April 4 was a colorful event with plenty of Easter egg prizes, games and refreshments in the Clark Pioneer Recreation Center.

Event overseer Shirley Bentley said the approximately 45 youngsters in six age groups, who found plastic eggs containing candy, many with prize tabs inside, were a highlight of the festivities. Other than the 12-and-younger kids there was also a good turnout of older youth plus many adults.

The cake walk was a big attraction, as well as several game booths offering prizes no matter what the score. Also popular were free lessons provided by local nonprofit Polestar-Outdoors. Lots of young folks tried their skills safely with an archery area and a BB gun shooting enclosure.

And there was a donation table with prizes, as residents are planning for a spectacular July 4 fireworks display on the Rec Center grounds. It seems that the show will be fired from the rodeo arena; spectators will have good viewing points including the baseball field.

The color scheme inside the Rec Center was vibrant. Besides “eggs” of many colors the table cloths in the refreshment area drew attention. Table covers of pink, mauve, orange, purple and yellow were highlighted by Easter-themed centerpieces with candles and bunnies.

One change that many attendees noted is the newly enlarged parking area. The graded area was increased by the Rec Board to approximately 50-yards-by-20-yards to accommodate attendees.

All proceeds from the Spring Ding will benefit the Rec, said Bentley. And she indicated that all volunteers who helped stage the event are greatly appreciated. She said their names are not provided so as to avoid leaving anyone out.
