Local congregations will gather for special Christmas services this week. In addition to regular Sunday services on Dec. 26, multiple churches will host Friday evening services for Christmas Eve, and a few will also gather for Christmas Day on Saturday.

Churches hosting Christmas Eve services

Local congregations will gather for special Christmas services this week. In addition to regular Sunday services on Dec. 26, multiple churches will host Friday evening services for Christmas Eve, and a few will also gather for Christmas Day on Saturday. 

The following churches shared Christmas service information with the Tribune by presstime:

• The Church of Christ in Powell will host a Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m.

• Faith Community Church will have two Christmas Eve services: The first from 4-4:45 p.m. and again from 5:15-6 p.m., with Christmas music, candle lighting, special readings and Holy Communion.

• First Southern Baptist Church will host a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m.

• First United Methodist Church in Powell will host a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. The Lovell United Methodist’s candlelight Christmas Eve service is at 4:30 p.m.

• Garland Community Church of God will be having its Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6:30 p.m.

• Grace Point will host a Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m.

• Glad Tidings Church will have a Christmas Eve service from 6-7 p.m., with Christmas carols and a short message.

• Hope Lutheran will have two Christmas Eve candlelight caroling services at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The church will not be joining for worship on Sunday, Dec. 26.

• Immanuel Lutheran Church will host a special candlelight service on Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. On Christmas Day, Immanuel Lutheran will have a worship service at 9 a.m.

• New Life Church of Powell will host a Christmas Eve service at 5:30 p.m.

• The Powell Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold their Christmas services at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 26. It will be centered on the Savior with Christmas musical numbers.

• St. Barbara’s Catholic Church will celebrate Christmas Eve Mass at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.  Christmas Day Mass will be at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

• St. John’s Episcopal Church’s Christmas Eve service is at 5:30 p.m. with carol singing and Holy Communion.

• Trinity Bible Church will have a Christmas Eve service at 6:30 p.m.

• Union Presbyterian Church’s Christmas Eve service will begin at 7:15 p.m. On Sunday, the Union Presbyterian and United Methodist churches will have a combined service at 11 a.m. in the United Methodist Church’s sanctuary.
