The Buffalo Bill Center of the West is reopening to the public on Thursday.
Leaders of the famed Cody museum said they’ve been working on a reopening plan for weeks to ensure the cleanliness of the museum and the safety of guests and staff. The new plan and protocols actually exceed the requirements from Park County Health officials, the center said.
“As it was when the Center began its temporary closure several weeks ago, the health and safety of our community remains our top priority,” the center said in a Monday note addressed to the public. “With guidance from our state and county health departments and Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon, we are looking forward to once again safely welcoming visitors and continuing our mission of connecting people to the stories of the American West.”
A Park County public health order shuttered all museums from March 19 to April 17. While closed to the public, the Buffalo Bill Center of the West offered virtual resources and stayed active on social media. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the center has also been offering free soup to those in need on a weekly basis.
Under the summer hours beginning on Thursday, the center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day.
“Know that when you are ready to visit the Center of the West again, we will be ready to welcome you with these new cleanliness and safety guidelines in place,” Center of the West officials said.
