Cecil P. “Biff” Beck, 84, of Cody, passed away and joined his lord on March 10, 2025.
Biff was born on June 12, 1940, in Wheatland, Wyoming, the son of Cecil H. and Gwen Beck. He moved with his family to Powell, Wyoming, in 1947 and attended the public school system there. He continued his education by receiving an Associate of Arts degree at Northwest College in Powell in 1960, a Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Montana State-Billings in Billings, Montana, in 1962 and a Master of Science degree in Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, in 1970. He also took courses from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming, and Kearney State in Kearney, Nebraska.
On Dec. 17, 1960, he married Linda K. Robbins in Powell and together they raised three children. Biff began his career as an educator in 1962 as a junior high social science teacher and coach in Glendive, Montana. In 1967, he and his family moved to Cody, Wyoming, where he accepted a position as a social science teacher and coach of football and basketball in the junior high school. In 1970, he accepted and held for 21 years the position of coordinator to design, implement and coordinate Instructional Media Services for the Cody school district. In conjunction with his media coordinator’s duties, he pioneered the development and implementation of a radio broadcast station, KYDZ, at Cody High School in 1976. He managed the station and taught high school students radio communications for 15 years. In 1988-89, Biff was selected Who’s Who In American Education. In 1991, he accepted the challenge to implement and coordinate technology throughout the Cody schools, a job he held until his retirement in 2002.
Biff gave to his community 14 years of service as a firefighter with the Cody Fire Department, 1975-1989. He served in various leadership positions of assistant chief, treasurer and training officer for the department. Biff and several others were instrumental in the inclusion of the hands-on training at the first Cody Fire School and along with the members of the department over the years molded the school to become the most prestige in the intermountain area. Even after retiring from the department, he continued as Wyoming Fire Service Level IV instructor, sharing his expertise with the Cody department and with numerous fire departments and businesses across Wyoming. He also served on the board of directors for the Riverside Cemetery District and was active in the development and supervision of the addition of the Riverside-Graham Cemetery on Cooper Lane.
Biff was member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cody and served as an elder and held membership in various professional organizations.
Biff very much cherished his marriage to Linda, raising their children and time spent with his grandson. He enjoyed camping on the Bighorn Mountains, working around his home, helping his neighbors and time spent serving the community as a member of the Cody Fire Department.
Biff is survived by his wife, Linda: one son, Beau, two daughters, Deni Tidball (Sean), Tara Posey (Ken), grandson Skyler Posey (Allyson) and great-grandsons Riley, Reed, Rohen and Renner Posey, all of Cody. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother Craig.

His family will scatter a majority of his ashes in a favorite spot, and the rest will be laid to rest at Riverside-Graham Cemetery. Thank you for all of your kind words of support during this difficult time.
