Carlus passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on March 21, 2025, at age 88. Carlus, or Cork, as his friends and family called him, was a true patriarch, cherishing family above all else.
Born in Powell to Carlus and Nellemay Blevins, he graduated from Powell High School, where he repeatedly achieved all-state honors in track, basketball and football, also serving as team captain.
Cork met the love of his life, Loretta Blevins, (née Wales,) at age 14 at youth group at the Presbyterian Church in Powell. Married for 67 years, they raised a family of four children, 10 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
He held a variety of jobs as a young man, from a wildcatter on an oil rig, to a petroleum products salesman, before settling in his career as a State Farm agent in Burlingame, California. He was also a dedicated volunteer with the Burlingame Lions’ Club, where he participated in almost all functions and programs, serving as president for the 1984-1985 term.
Cork and Lorie, as they were known when they were young, gave the perfect example of a true loving partnership. They worked alongside each other for those 38 years at State Farm. In 1985, they started building their dream home back in their beloved state of Wyoming. The two together built “The Cabin” as it was called by the family, spending summers there for the next 39 years.
Carlus is survived by his wife, Loretta, and their children, Craig (Cheryl) Blevins, Lenae (Tom) Germano, Rona (Paul) Stefani, and Dana (John) Crowell, along with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and other extended family.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Lions’ Eye Foundation at PO Box 7999, San Francisco, CA 94120. Services will be held June 20, 2025, 1:30 p.m., at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell with a reception to follow at United Church of Powell.
