(Nov. 7, 1919 - Oct. 22, 2010)Carl Andrew Johannesen, 90, of Blackfoot, Idaho, died at his home Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, from causes incident to age, just a few weeks short of his 91st birthday.

Carl Andrew Johannesen was born Nov. 7, 1919, to Julius Andrew and Mary Elizabeth Rice Johannesen in Rupert, Idaho.

He spent most of his younger years in the Idaho Falls area, graduating from Ririe High School and University of Idaho.

He married Guenevere Cheatham on March 15, 1952, in Greybull. They were sealed on Jan. 16, 1953, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed to have six wonderful daughters.

He dry farmed in the Antelope Flat area until 1961 when he moved his family to Powell, where they spent 36 years. After Guenevere died on Jan. 30, 1997, he sold the family farm and moved back to the Idaho Falls area.

He married Von Niese Stringham Munson on July 11, 1998. They resided in the Rose Area for 13 years until his death.

He was an active member of the LDS Church holding many positions from Sunday school teacher, Scout leader, Young Men's Leader to Bishop and High Councilman. He loved people and helping them any way he could.

He had many occupations in his life from ranch hand, farmer, miner, social worker and vocational rehabilitation counselor. After he retired he was able to do what he loved most, to break and ride horses, which he did well into his 80s.

He is survived by his wife, Von Niese, his six daughters: Carla (Gilbert) Waddell, Casper;Margaret (Gary) Brinkerhoff, Brigham City, Utah;Jean Johannesen, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Janet Card, Cody; Elizabeth (Liam) Williams, Payson, Utah; Kris Ann (Richard) Johnson, Blackfoot, Idaho; five granddaughters, 15 grandsons and one great-grandson. Also surviving are Von Niese's children: Dennis Munson; Lee (deceased) Venita Munson; Donna Davis, all of Blackfoot, Idaho;Ed and Jenny Munson of Pocatello, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at the Hawker Funeral Home 132 S. Shilling Ave. Blackfoot, Idaho, Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at 1 p.m. in the Rose LDS Chapel, 403 N 150 W, Blackfoot. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Ririe Shelton Cemetery around 3 p.m.
