The two main fundraisers of the year for Homesteader Museum were canceled during the COVID-19 in 2020, but the museum has received $8,957 from a Wyoming Business Council relief program for non-profits to help recover from the loss.
The museum’s Tea & Tables fundraiser in May was canceled, as well as the annual Homesteader Days and associated Farm to Table dinner in September.
The COVID relief program made funds available to non-profit applicants from the state’s portion of the federal CARES Act. Brandi Wright, Homesteader Museum director, attended a WBC webinar on relief for non-profits who incurred losses between March 13 and Sept. 15. The Homesteader Museum recovery was based on actual figures from the same events in 2019.
In a separate program to provide COVID relief to libraries and museums in Wyoming, Homesteader Museum has been awarded $250 to purchase a new iPad to facilitate getting the museum beyond its walls. The iPad will be utilized to create live feeds or You Tube videos or to conduct virtual tours of the museum, Wright said.
