Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area will be hosting a meeting today (Tuesday) for the ranchers who trail cattle in the park. The purpose of the meeting, set to begin at 6 p.m. in the Bighorn Canyon Visitor Center in Lovell, is to introduce new park leadership, address administrative changes to the trailing program, discuss fees and answer ranchers’ questions. Fees for special use permits and commercial use authorization will be increased to $100 this year “due to increased costs and to standardizing fees throughout the Powder River Group,” the Park Service says.
For questions about special use permits, contact Chris Valdez at 307-548-5429 or contact Todd Johnson about commercial use authorizations at 307-548-5423.
