(Dec. 29, 1918 - June 22, 2010)Bernice L. (Brost) Townsend, 91, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at her home in Powell in the arms of her family.
Bernice was born on Dec. 29, 1918, in Alliance, Neb. She married her sweetheart, Bert, on Dec. 23, 1943. They lived in Alliance, Scottsbluff, Neb., and Cody before moving to Powell in 1988. Bernice and Bert would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year.
Bernice taught school in Nebraska for several years before moving to Scottsbluff. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and she made her choice to serve God in 1930. Bernice gave her heart first to God, then to family and friends. She was a cheerful, generous person who was a mohter to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bertha Brost, and by her baby son, Bryan Townsend.
Bernice is survived by her husband, Bert, of Powell; daughters Linda Grunenfelder (Mike) of Billings, Donna Townsend of Billings and Thelma Yung (Stan) of Bozeman, Mont.; grandchildren Craig Grunenfelder of Piedmond, S.D., Karen Seddon (David) of Billings, Kindra Vondal (Chris) of Billings, Mikaela Jang (David) of Seattle, Wash., Kevin Yung (Debbie) of Santa Maria, Calif., Jennelle Wallis (Trent) of Billings and Jennifer Metro (Terry) of Bozeman; five great-grandchildren; sisters Ruth Dalrymple of Willis, Texas, and Anne DeWitt of Omaha, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 27, with viewing at 5 p.m., followed by the service at 6 p.m., at 4659 Highway 14-A (Powell Highway) in Cody.
Donations in Bernice's name may be may to Powell Valley Home Health/Hospice.
