Duran becomes second player to sign with TrappersNorthwest College women's basketball coach Janis Beal announced this week that Mariah Duran has signed a letter of intent to play for the Trappers next season. Duran is a 5'5” shooting guard from Murray, Utah.
“Mariah is an excellent shooter, and can shoot it deep,” Beal said of the latest Trapper signee. “She has a great court sense and gives our team a dimension we don't have. I'm excited to see her in a Trapper uniform.”
Duran was a first-team all-region and second-team all-state selection this past high school season.
She was named her region's most valuable player for 2010 and was also an all-star roster member for the 2009-2010 season.
In the classroom, Duran was named to the Murray High School honor roll.
Duran joins a Trapper roster that will be heavy with returning players. The Trappers posted an 11-19 record in Beal's first season as NWC head coach.
