As Backpack Blessings’ fundraiser enters its final week, community support for the organization “warms your heart,” said Sharon Earhart, chair of the organization’s board of directors.
Prior to the Christmas holiday, Backpack Blessings had received about $8,000 in contributions from the community. The program to provide weekend nutritional support for Powell elementary school children is conducting a month-long fund drive in December.
This is the second year that Backpack Blessings has conducted a virtual pie sale. The program was forced to cancel its annual pie sale fundraiser in 2020 and again this year due to the pandemic.
Supporters are asked to contribute to Backpack Blessings by donating the amount they would have spent in baking a pie or purchasing a pie. Checks payable to Backpack Blessings can be sent to P.O. Box 1, Powell, WY 82435.
“The incredible support is really appreciated,” Earhart said. “We are so thankful for the people in businesses. Powell, Wyoming, is an amazing community.”
Last year the virtual pie sale raised $9,000.
