If you’re looking for some history about the saloons and drinks of the Old West, join the Meeteetse Museums Friday evening for a special Zoom presentation by author Sherry Monahan.
Like many frontier towns, Meeteetse has been home to several bars throughout its history. But what did people drink in the late 1800s? What were saloons really like?
Monahan, the author of “The Golden Elixir of the West: Whiskey and the Shaping of America,” will examine those questions at 6:30 p.m. Friday on Zoom. To join, visit www.tinyurl.com/1ghzna9h and insert the passcode 464275. Alternatively, the program will also be livestreamed on the Meeteetse Museums’ Facebook page.
A culinary historian, Monahan says she became enchanted with food at a young age, developing a passion for writing about historic food, spirits, people, and places. She is based in North Carolina.
