An 18-year-old male working for the Park County Fairgrounds sustained a broken femur Wednesday morning after the ATV he was traveling in tipped over.
The teen was traveling in the vehicle with another seasonal employee while cleaning up the grandstands arena following the Park County Fair, said Billy Wood, Park County Events coordinator.
Wood was in Montana at the time of the accident but said his understanding was that work was being done to clean up, and “they just took a turn a little too quick and hit a patch of dirt,” Wood said.
Both workers were taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries, with Wood describing the other worker as a little beat up.
“These boys do a lot for us, they’re what makes our fair go, so we appreciate them,” Wood said. “We try and take care of them the best we can. Unfortunately sometimes accidents just happen.”
