A Cody couple’s artwork will be featured in a new exhibit at Plaza Diane Community Center for the Arts. “Under One Roof: Artwork by Betsy and Brian Timmer” opens tonight (Thursday) with a reception from 7-8:30 p.m.
Betsy and Brian Timmer met in the painting studios at Western Michigan University and moved to Cody in 2018. They have been married since 2003 and have two sons.
In her work, Betsy observes and investigates relationships, responsibilities and passing time. Using her own experiences as fuel, she gives form to her ideas by combining and manipulating everyday objects, most often textiles and domestic “debris.”
For Brian, art is a vehicle for examining and expressing thoughts about inner and outer realities. In his abstract work, he explores the inner realm of things unseen. Themes in this type of work range from human purpose and meaning, to daily priorities, fears and motivations that shape our lives.
More of the couple’s artwork is on display at the Timmer Gallery, located next to Zapata’s in downtown Cody.
Residents are invited to attend tonight’s reception at Plaza Diane and enjoy an evening with artwork, artists, food, refreshments and friends.
“Under One Roof: Artwork by Betsy and Brian Timmer” will remain on display through April 11.
