The first edition of Arenacross racing at the Park County Fair was a rousing success with a healthy crowd in the grandstands treated to fast-revving, high-flying action featuring more than 60 racers in eight different motorcycle categories and four levels of UTV racing.
From the youngest, 5-year-old Zander Stahl of Lovell, to 60-year-old Rod Smith of Cody, a wide age-gap showed that there was competition for all on July 27.
Picking up wins in each category were 6-year-old Jeremy Wiles of Cody in the 50CC class, Powell’s Scotty Riedinger in the Mini Juniors, Kelton George from Cody in the Mini and Lovell’s Madison Tippetts in the Motorcycle Women’s.
Sean Smith of Cody won the Novice division, Cody’s Shane Wiles took the top Intermediate spot and Michael Hendershot from Lovell raced to the win in both the Veteran and Expert classes.
In the UTV races, Cody’s Jamie Card won the Women’s category on her Razor and Greg Greer of Cody raced his Razor to the 4-Seater win.
Cody residents continued their winning ways when Max McCord finished first in the Amateur division, before Riverton’s Zac Farrell prevented a UTV sweep for Cody when he was the Pro class winner.
With such a strong debut, Arenacross could become a staple over the coming years at the Park County Fair.
