Dear editor:
Let me ask you — are you better off now under Project 2025? Do you feel safer now with our national security, nuclear weapons, FBI and armed forces controlled by television personalities and podcasters? How about health insurance premiums, projected to go up at least 75%, and your winter heating costs — will you and your community be able to afford them?
How are your grocery bills being affected by the incarceration of the people who harvest and process your food? Do you feel OK about the condition of the natural environment you are handing to your grandkids?
Wyomingites used to boast about not trusting the federal government. Has DOGE suddenly inspired your trust? Do you applaud destruction of our government agencies, mandates to sell off our public lands, and defunding scientific research, including for pandemics, cancer and Alzheimers?
Does the clawback of public support for our world class arts and cultural institutions concern you? Do you care that there are masked goons breaking into citizens’ homes in the middle of the night, zip-tying children, and kidnapping Americans off the street? Or are you Caucasian, so you don’t worry about it happening to you? Do you trust that the money “saved” by firing tens of thousands of hard working public servants will go towards reducing our national debt, or do you question expenditures for ballrooms, parades, airplanes and bailing out insolvent South American dictatorships? Do you think it’s OK for billionaires to continue getting even richer at the expense of American taxpayers?
Just askin’ …
Linda Raynolds
