Panther named Senior Athlete of the Year

Ivy Agee was named the Powell High School girls’ Senior Athlete of the Year in May, as the standout soccer, football and basketball player took home the honors for the class of 2026.

“It was pretty cool, it was definitely an award that I wanted to get so I was kinda excited,” Agee said.

Over her four years as a Panther, Agee was a four-time All-State selection in soccer, becoming the girls’ program’s all-time leading scorer her first season and rocketing past 100 goals her junior season to help the program become one of the best programs in the state.

Her first three years in high school Agee featured for the basketball team, serving as a varsity player her sophomore and junior seasons.

Translating her kicking skills to the gridiron her junior and senior seasons, Agee took over as the varsity kicker for the Panthers, making history as the first Panther girl to score a point in football program history.

“Football has taught me to adjust and also showed me the difference between boy and girl athletes. Basketball was always just about working hard. Even if I am not the best at what I am doing, I need to use what I am best at and help my teammates in the best way I can,” Agee said. “Then soccer has always been my favorite, and I’ve had some hard moments, but I always come to realize that it’s how I express myself and my attributes to others, and I have to push myself while always enjoying it. Many moments have shown me that I really need to slow down and also not be so hard on myself.”

While each sport taught Agee a different lesson, she felt there were a lot of fun memories she made along the way, especially during her senior seasons.

“Some favorite memories would be from football seasons and certain moments on our way to soccer games or at the hotel on soccer trips. Football was always interesting but always had its exciting and funny moments listening to all the guys and being in that atmosphere,” Agee said. “Soccer, someone would always be messing with someone else or we’d play fun games.”

Agee felt like each sport helped strengthen her in different ways throughout her high school career.

“Each one has helped me strengthen my personal strengths of being a leader, working hard and being consistent with certain things,” Agee said.

While those things helped her be the top athlete in the class, she said she wanted to pass along some advice to future Panthers in order to help them in their future endeavors.

“Whatever you are doing, work at it with your full capability because your teammates depend on you to work hard,” Agee said. “Also, take in each moment because they go by fast, and most of the time you might not even recognize your own accomplishments. Try to look at the good you have done.”

Agee will head to Black Hills State University in South Dakota to play college soccer, taking one important final lesson to the next level.

“I’ll always work hard and try my best every single day. I was also told that I need to play with a smile on my face, so that is what I will continue working on going into college,” Agee said.
