(March 10, 1937 - Nov. 3, 2010)Albert Keith “Doc” and “Big Al” Baxter of Cowley died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 at the Powell Valley Care Center. He was 73.
Albert was born March 10, 1937, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Joseph Ralph Baxter and Alma Grace Curry. He graduated high school, attended college, and joined the Army. He married Julie Anne Reid on March 24, 1979 in Elko, Nev., and they renewed their vows on their 25th anniversary in 2004. They lived in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming.
Albert was in law enforcement for 23 years, a rodeo clown for more than five years, was a dispatcher and EMT, and an athletic trainer in Buhl, Idaho, for four years. He was a member of search and rescue in Idaho and a commander for 15 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and being with family and friends.
Albert was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepmother, a son, brother, sister and a niece and a nephew.
He is survived by his wife Julie of Cowley; sons Dennis (Lori) Baxter of Cody; Ed Baxter of Cody; Rod Huff of Jerome, Idaho; daughters Loydrena (Bart) Kolacny of Powell; Teena Baxter of Elko, Nev.; brothers Alvin (Betty) Baxter of Buhl, Idaho; Jim (Deb) Baxter of Buhl, Idaho; sisters Shirley (Billy) Anderson of Jerome, Idaho; Nancy (Bud) Parks of Buhl, Idaho; Cindy (Duane) Heda of Featherville, Idaho; 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and services will be held Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Powell.
