Agri Industries electrical division handles commercial, residential and ag

Agri Industries’ team of electricians in Powell has, despite the name, never been exclusively agriculturally focused.

Nick Burke, the company’s master electrician for the last eight years with over 20 years in the industry, recalls getting a call his first day on the job from someone he knew who needed his house rewired, asking him if he was still doing that sort of thing.

“I said, ‘you couldn't have called at a better time,” he said.

Since then, while wiring pivots and the like is still a large part of their jobs, the four electricians, including Burke, a journeyman and two apprentices, are as busy as they can be with both ag and commercial/residential jobs this year.

“I have three great guys I enjoy working with, they’re doing pretty darn good and we’ve got quite a few jobs,” he said.

He finds all of his jobs interesting, but said working on a new steakhouse in Powell has been particularly exciting.

And having a journeyman and two apprentices has been a boon for the business this year, as now they can separate up into two teams and handle different projects.

“Being able to divide into two teams, so we can divide and conquer, now we can get to things a little faster,” Burke said.

He said it’s nice too to work with younger electricians, because while he has the experience, as the industry continues to change, it’s nice to have fresh ideas.

“It’s refreshing,” he said, adding that sometimes they share a solution he’d never thought of.

They’re also happy to help customers anyway they can — they even assisted one customer in getting a pool going.

“Whatever we can do to help out while we’re there,” Burke said.

They are also a standby generator installer for Cummins, and his team also does service work called in by realtors, as well as the wiring of some new homes among other jobs.

“Give us a call, we’d love to help you out,” Burke said. “Thanks to the people that have reached out to me. Thanks to the community for their support.”
