The Little Red Church on the hill, as Faith Community has been called, is adding on, both in space and in services. The non-denominational Christian church is on the north side of the Powell-Cody Highway.
It continues to offer two Sunday morning services, one at 8:30 a.m. and the other at 10. It also presents a Wednesday evening service at 6:30.
The church has been at this location, directly across the highway from the Eagle’s Nest, since 2012.
The various times for service aren’t just for social distancing opportunties, said pastor Dave Seratt. “It (having three services) allows people to spread out if they choose, as well as offering time options that suit more of our population, “ he said.
Masks are not required but Serratt noted the church does take precautions.
“If someone chooses to wear a mask, that‘s fine, and if they don’t, that’s OK, too. We realize this is an unprecedented time and we are certainly cautious. We don‘t go around shaking everyone‘s hand, and we do maintain reasonable distances from one another. We have asked people not to attend church if they are ill, of course. We want to respect people‘s comfort levels and just have a place where we can worship together,” he said.
In the last two years, the congregation has grown from basic attendance of 75 on an average Sunday to around 150 attendees each week split among the three services.
“Over 200 people call Faith Community Church their church home,” Seratt added. Because of the growth, the members have agreed the time has come to increase the size of the building. The church is beginning an expansion project focused on a Christian education area with classrooms for children and additional space for fellowship.
Faith Community services are about an hour in length, with communion served the first and third Sundays and Wednesdays of the month. For more information, contact Pastor Seratt at 272-7655.
