A memorandum of understanding — basically an agreement between parties — has been issued between the Park County School District 1 and Heritage Health Center to provide mental health counseling for students.
The program is funded through a SAMHSA — substance abuse and mental health administration — grant.
The grant is for $412,000 each year for five years. A community mental health coordinator has been hired by the district for the program. Adrienne Cronebaugh’s salary is part of the grant funding and as administrator, she is responsible for compliance with the guidelines.
PCSD1 Superintendent Jay Curtis said the counselors at each building in the district had compiled a list of students who they believed would benefit from additional help. With the MOU signed and list in hand, Curtis said sessions could start immediately.
