CHEYENNE (AP) — The National Weather Service reports a wind gust that reached 103 mph in the Clark area.
Strong winds whipped through the state Thursday and Friday with gusts of 50 to 70 mph common in many areas.
The Weather Service says the 103 mph gust was measured by a remote weather station at about 9 p.m. Thursday night northwest of Clark. A 94 mph gust was measured nearby along the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway northwest of Cody.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation closed sections of Interstates 80 and 25 to light, high-profile vehicles because of the risk of vehicles being blown over.
The strong winds were expected to subside later Friday.
Up to 15 inches of snow fell in extreme western Wyoming.
