Over two and a half decades ago Adam Sandler donned a blue tuxedo and won the heart of Drew Barrymore in “The Wedding Singer.” On Friday and Saturday, Powell High School’s drama club will put their own spin on it when they perform “The Wedding Singer: The Musical Comedy.”
“It's 1985, and rock star wannabe, Robbie Hart, is New Jersey's favorite wedding singer. He's the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar,” the musical's website reads. “Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and, unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.”
Showings will be Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students. The show is rated PG as it features people in adult settings, Director Jeff Greaham said.
