It began in 1974 with a barn and a machine. Now Production Machine is in its 50th year of operation.
As a family-owned and operated metal working, consumer supply and repair shop, Production Machine has served the Powell community on various projects.
“We started residential work in the beginning,” explained Tate McCoy, president of Production Machine. “We are what they call a job shop, and whatever project anyone brings to us we’re willing to work on.”
McCoy’s father, Jeff McCoy, began the business in September of 1974, dedicating many long hours towards its success. Tate and his brother, Brett McCoy, purchased Production Machine from their father in 1997.
“We ended up being very family-oriented,” Tate said. “We try to take care of the people that are working for us just like we would treat our own family.”
Handrails, frying pans, wheelchairs, trailers and bicycles are a few of the many repairs that Production Machine has tackled over half a century in the Powell community. Recently, they constructed a wall shield and hearth pad to surround a small stove for a cabin in the Beartooths.
“We’re in the third generation right now of the family business,” McCoy said. “We’re just hoping to continue to grow and thrive and support the community and do what we can to aid the people that are in need of our services.”
