The Powell Panthers Summer Swim Camp will be held at the Powell Aquatic Center starting next week alongside the diving camp.
Any middle or high school swimmer is welcome to attend.
The swimming camp will take place Monday, July 17 through Saturday, July 22, followed by a second week of action July 24-29.
“We will put major emphasis on stroke mechanics,” Powell High School girls’s swim coach Bob Smartt said. “Biomechanists tell us that the best time to make positive changes to swim strokes is early in the training cycle.”
Camp will run 9 a.m.-noon each day.
Registration for the camp is through the Powell Aquatic Center, and athletes may pay for half the practices if unable to attend both weeks of the camp.
Smartt said the team will also provide a partial or full scholarship to any swimmer who needs financial assistance.
The diving camp will be taking place in the evening of July 17-21, starting at 3 p.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m.
Smartt said that partial or full scholarships are available for the diving camp, and to contact coach Heather Christensen for more information.
High school swimming season is fast approaching, with practices set to kick off on Aug. 14 with the Panthers hoping to get a jump on the standards for the 2023 season that have been set at slower standards compared to years prior.
