Park County Commission Chair Dossie Overfield will continue in that role another year.
She received unanimous approval to continue on in the role, which all agreed is a big job coming with a lot of extra work, including extra meetings and building good relationships with the staff.
“I want to point out what an outstanding job the current chairman has done this past year,” commissioner Scott Mangold said in announcing his nomination for her to continue.
“You’ve done an outstanding job and it is very time consuming,” said commissioner Scott Steward. “The time you’ve put in, especially with the courthouse, it’s a real service to the community and I appreciate it.”
Steward was chosen unanimously as the new vice chair after being nominated by commissioner Lloyd Thiel, who held that role for the past year.
The commissioners also agreed to stick with their same liaison roles from the year before.
County gets
Park County’s financials were clean for the 2023 fiscal year.
Accountant Alex Florek presented firm Carver Florek & James CPA’s findings of a clean audit for FY 2023, which ended June 30.
The finding is better than the last few years, while this year even included acknowledgment of a previous issue being remedied.
Florek said the issues they did notice did not rise to the level of being included in the report and thus they would speak to departmental heads individually with those matters.
“So no findings this year, which is great,” he said. “I think that’s been a first for the last few years — it’s always good to see a clean report.”
