November happenings at the library

Park County Library is pleased to offer Books Beyond Boundaries. Books Beyond Boundaries is a homebound service for people in Park County who due to long term or temporary medical disabilities are unable to visit the library. This service will launch on Monday, Nov. 6 — please check out social media, the library website or contact your library for more information. 

Park County Library will once again be offering Food for No Fines in November and December. This is a great opportunity to drop off food at one of our three libraries to help support those in need in our community. Please look out for flyers and tables at your local library.  

The Powell Library is pleased to announce the installation of a meeting room pod. This pod will allow one-on-one meetings, online meetings and a quiet place to work. Visit the Powell Library and check out the new meeting pod.  

Powell Library will offer an Intro to Canning and Preserving class where Denise Laursen will be answering all your questions about canning and preserving. This is a great chance to learn and prepare for the winter. Join us Thursday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. 

Join us Monday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. for a Family History Workshop, a great chance to learn how to research your family history, hosted by Larry and Maureen Akin.           

Friday Morning Card Games are back at the library. Please join us at 9 a.m. every Friday morning to play cards, cribbage, puzzles and other fun card games.                 

Sign up for our Tuesday Book Discussion and join us on Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. where we will be discussing “The Second Mrs. Astor,” by Shana Abe. We also offer an evening book discussion on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. where we will be discussing “Spinning Silver,” by Naomi Novik.          

Join us for Adult Craft Night on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. to make a Christmas Card Wreath Holder. 

Families join us for Homeschool Hour on Monday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. Come to the library and connect with other homeschool families, and this month join us for crafts and reading.

Drop in for the next Wyoming Library to Business webinar on holiday marketing Thursday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m.  

Teens are welcome at the Powell Library and we have a lot of fun activities planned for after school. Every Thursday at 3:30 p.m. join us for Young Adult craft time and every Friday at 2 p.m. for early release activities. Stop by the library, check out our social media pages or calendar on our website to learn more about the activities for the week. Join us Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m. for a movie. 

Powell Library has lots of fun filled activities for children. Join Ms. Renee every Monday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for Baby and Toddler Time and every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. for Story Time. Cup Stacking for kids is back, join us Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 3:30 p.m. Lego Club for K-5 is back, join us Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 3:30 p.m. Kids in kindergarten through fifth grade come join us on Tuesday, Nov. 21 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for Cozy Lantern Crafts.   

In November, stop by on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and every Thursday from 1-3 p.m. for the Powell Library Friends Book Sale. Stop by and take home as many books as you can and support the Powell Library. Also, if you’re interested in helping out with book sales and supporting the library consider joining the Friends of the Library.                   

We have seeds from our seed library as you start your gardens and we have nature backpacks filled with items to enhance your local hike. As always, we have binge boxes, Switch games and console, health kits, board games, puzzles, Rokus, blood pressure kits and much more to borrow.  

Please remember all Park County Libraries will be closed Friday, Nov. 10 for Veterans Day as well as Nov. 23-25 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
