Gas cost decrease
PUBLIC NOTICE
The Wyoming Public Service Commission (Commission) approved the Application of Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. to pass on a purchased gas cost decrease of $2.359 per dekatherm (Dth) for optional seasonal customers, effective for usage on and after April 1, 2024, subject to notice, protest, intervention, refund, change, further investigation, opportunity for hearing and further order of the Commission.
MDU’s Rate 72 tariff requires the Company to switch from the winter rate to the summer rate, effective April 1st. MDU calculates the summer rate by subtracting Wyoming’s allocated share of the Company’s fixed demand charges from its total estimated gas cost. The Company then divides this amount by Wyoming’s estimated usage to arrive at a cost per Dth.
Commission Rule Chapter 3, Section 26, allows a utility to pass on, to its customers, known or projected commodity cost increases or decreases, on a dollar-for-dollar basis, subject to public notice, opportunity for hearing and refund.
MDU’s Application is available at the Commission or online at: https://dms.wyo.gov/external/publicusers.aspx (Enter Record No. 17523).
Anyone desiring to file a statement, intervention petition, protest, or request for hearing must file with the Commission in writing, on or before May 3, 2024. A proposed intervention or request for hearing shall set forth the grounds, the position and interest of the petitioner in this proceeding. Please mention Docket No. 30013-407-GP-24 in your communications.
If you wish to participate in this matter and you require reasonable accommodation for a disability, contact the Commission at (307) 777-7427 or 2515 Warren Avenue, Suite 300, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82002. Communications-impaired persons may contact the Commission by accessing Wyoming Relay at 711.
