CCAL classes to spark creativity this summer

The Cody Country Art League (CCAL) is offering a variety of new classes this summer so the Park County community can embrace its creative side.

On June 11 students will get the chance to practice digital photography on wild horses during Shooting from the Fence: Wild Horse Digital Photography with David Jefferis. Registration will be $125 for the public and $112.50 for members.

An art supply and materials sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. The sale will feature new and gently used art supplies. Members can reserve their own tables to sell supplies. Proceeds will go to CCAL.

The submission deadline for the 57th Annual Community Art Show and Sale is June 22 at 5 p.m. All ages and mediums are welcome to submit. The art show will take place June 29 from 5-7 p.m. There will be an opening reception and awards ceremony, and the artwork will hang in the gallery through the month of July.

CCAL will have two events in July that encourage participants to work with their hands.

On July 9, from 10 a.m-3 p.m., there will be a Rosemaling-Gudbrandsdal class with Sally Holberg. This is a type of three-dimensional painting that is made to imitate the wood-carving style popular in the Gudbrandsdal region of Norway. The class costs $60, or $54 for members.

Finally, on July 16 and Aug. 6 from 1-4 p.m there will be hand-building mugs from clay class with Dustin Stephenson. Members will be able to make and glaze their own mugs during the class. Costs: $100, or $90 for members. RSVP is requested.

CCAL is open 9 a.m-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 836 Sheridan Ave. in Cody. For more information call 307-587-3597.
