Hildebrand, McArthur, Smith honored

Three members of Powell High School’s basketball programs were named to the all-state teams announced by the Wyoming Coaches Association earlier this week. Seniors Marshall McArthur and Alyssa Hildebrand and sophomore Kalei Smith were each named to the all-state roster.

Hildebrand was the lone Panther representative from a girls’ team that finished the season 19-8 overall and advanced to the 3A state tournament. She wrapped up the season with a team-best 37 3-point buckets this year, more than one-third of the Panthers’ long-distance buckets this season. Hildebrand finished with averages of 9.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.2 steals per game.

For the 3A state runner-up boys’ team, McArthur finished with 428 points, wrapping up his Powell career as the No. 3 career scorer all-time for the program. McArthur averaged 15.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. All four of those averages represented team-best performances.

Smith, a sophomore, finished with 365 points in his first full season at the varsity level. Smith knocked down a team-high 26 3-point buckets while averaging 13.5 points per contest for the Panthers.

Like the girls, the Powell boys finished the season with a 19-8 overall record. The Panthers were defeated by Star Valley on a last-second shot in the Class 3A title game.
