Victoria G. Cordes of Powell died Monday, July 2, 2012 at Powell Valley Health Care. She was 84.

Victoria was born Feb. 9, 1928 in Holeman, N.M., to Eduvijen (Solano) and Salomon Grine. Victoria lived in many places throughout her life. As a girl she was raised in Holeman, then moved to Oklahoma City where she met Forrest “Frosty” Cordes. They were married Jan. 1, 1948 in Guthrie, Okla. They started their family and lived in Montana and Wyoming. Victoria also had the opportunity to live with her family in Iran, Venezuela and Holland, but always made Powell home.

Victoria was a homemaker, an Avon representative, newspaper delivery person and elementary school aide at Parkside school. She enjoyed spending time with family, and loved her kids and grandkids. Gardening was also high on Victoria’s list. She could make anything grow and admired flowers of her friends as well. She liked to read and always had time to help someone who was lonely or in need. She was a fantastic cook.

Victoria was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother, and her beloved son, Peter Cordes.

She is survived by her husband Frosty; sons William “Randy” Cordes, Micheal “Rene” Cordes and fiance Sandy Griffin, Victor (Colleen) Cordes, all of Powell; daughters Suzan Velasquez-Grenier of Boulder, Colo., Peggy Cordes of Casper; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Honorary pall bearers are her grandchildren, Michelle Garrett, Justin Cordes, Hannah Cordes, Teagan Cordes, Zane Cordes, Ryan Cordes and Dylan Cordes, and great-grandchildren, Randi Garrett and Brooke Garrett.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 16 at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church with Father Glen Szczechowski officiating. Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 15 at St. Barbara’s. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell.
