David D. Denney of Clark died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011 at Spirit Mountain Hospice in Cody. He was 88.

David was born Feb. 22, 1923 in Bearcreek, Mont., to Russell and Hilda (Dayton) Denney. He attended school in Belfry, Mont., and on April 23, 1949 he married Elmarie (Badura) Denney in Clark.

After graduating from high school, David worked as a farm hand, and lived in Montana and Wyoming. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific and was a staff sergeant. Upon returning home from the Army, he began farming. Together with his sons, they grew the farm to its present-day existence.

David was a member of the Belfry American Legion, and a Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Esther Parmley, and brother, Jim.

David is survived by his wife Elmarie, sons Ronald (Katie), Jerry (Joann), Edward (Tina), Larry, Kenneth and Alan, all of Clark; brother Eldon (Janice) Denney of Idaho; sisters Joise Wolchesky of Billings, Mont., Dorthy (Clarence) Toogood of Belfry, Shirley (Howard) Snively of St. Xavier, Mont., and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 at St. Barbara’s Church in Powell. Burial will follow at the Belfry Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Spirit Mountain Hospice in Cody.
