Summer Bell died Oct. 30, 2011 at the age of 31 at the University of Washington Hospital in the ICU after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was at the top of the list for a double lung transplant.

Summer was born July 10, 1980 to Laura Kurtz and James Hart.

Summer graduated from Westside High School in Wenatchee, Wash., and attended the Academy of Hair Design.

Summer married Douglas Bell of Everett, Wash.,

She worked in several salons in the Wenatchee area and Omak. Summer loved her dogs, Bo, Belle and Pepper, as if they were her children.

Summer always had a smile on her face, never gave up and loved life. She had a very kind soul and would help anyone in need if she could.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas Bell and his family; mother, Laura Kurtz and Dan Weigel of Powell; father James Hart of Wenatchee; brother Russell (Linda) Pipkin and their children, all of East Wenatchee; grandparents, Allan Kurtz of Republic, Wash., Catherine Anderson of Omak, Galen Pipkin and the last Sharon Pipkin. She had many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her very much, and she had numerous friends and support from all over the world.

A celebration of her life was held at the Alcoa Union in East Wenatchee on Sunday, Nov. 6.

A service will be held in Powell later in the month for family and close friends.

Memorial donations may be made to the Summer Bell fund at First Bank of Wyoming or taken to The Bookstore, 109 N. Bent Street in Powell.
