Donald Ray Morris, 73, died Oct. 5 at Powell Valley Hospital.

He was born on May 26, 1936 on Shell Creek, Wyo., to Robert L. and Dora E. (Sievers) Morris.

Donald graduated from high school in Basin. He served with the U.S. Navy from June 1955 - March 1966.

On Oct. 28, 1958 he married Susan Lee Kirkpatrick in Basin. The couple lived in various states, including Alaska and Hawaii, and in the Philippine Islands.

Donald later worked as a corporate executive for a major communications corporation. He was a Protestant and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Eagles and Moose lodges and the National Rifle Association. He was a writer, hunter and musician, and he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Donald is survived by his sons Daniel Morris (Tammy) of Hinton, Okla., Jeffrey Morris of Powell and Donald Jr. of Greybull; daughters Lisa Doerge (Kenny) of Billings, Patricia Morris (Jimmy) of Powell and Pamela Kennedy (Timmy) also of Powell; brothers Vern, Robert (Billie), Leland and Del (Carol); 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, in 1985; his parents; three sisters; two brothers; and a grandchild.

Cremation has taken place, and a funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. at the Lovell Community Center. A brief military veteran’s ceremony will be conducted for family and friends. Thompson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
