Jerry Horace Corbett, 67, of Lovell, died on April 3 at the Billings Clinic.

Jerry was born in Lovell on Aug. 8, 1941, to John (Jack) and Loy (Sessions) Corbett. He joined sisters Margaret, Dot, Bertha and Jackie.

His parents both died when he was a young boy. His sister Margaret and her husband, Jim Wirth, didn’t want to split the kids up so they took them into their home and raised them alongside their own three children.

Jerry graduated from Byron High School. He attended Northwest College and Brigham Young University, where he earned his teaching degree in math.

He married his love, Michele Tippetts, on Sept. 16, 1965, and they were married 43 years. Together they raised three daughters; Stephanie, Cynthia and René.

After graduating college, he and his wife moved to Cowley, where he taught math to hundreds of students from 1966-1996.

He worked at Nepeco on weekends, holidays and during summer vacations for most of his life, doing anything and everything to support his family. He also worked for Great Western Sugar and G.K. Construction.

Jerry had an outrageous wit and humor. He enjoyed helping people, and he was known for his innovative ideas. His family and friends were very important to him, and he loved going for rides with his three dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Margaret “Mom”, Dorothy and Barbara; four brother-in-laws, Jim Wirth “Dad”, Bob Hecht, Wes Mueller and Francis Wilkinson; Michele’s first-born son, Tracy, and several close friends.

He is survived by his wife, Michele; daughters, Stephanie Corbett, Cynthia Corbett (Scott) Allred and René Corbett (Mike) Butcher; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Mueller and Jackie Hecht, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing Thursday, April 9 at the Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 10, at the Lovell LDS church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery.

Haskell Funeral Home is in charge of the services.
