Maria Elida R. Garcia, 79, died Wednesday, Sept. 3 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas.
She was born June 28, 1929 in Robstown, Texas, to Santos and Felipa Hinojosa Rodriguez.
She was a farm worker for Cox-Fisher Farms in Powell for some 25 to 30 years.
Funeral service was celebrated Monday, Sept. 8 at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church. Officiating was Deacon Juan M. Delgado. Interment followed at Highland Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband, Miguel G. Garcia of Weslaco, Texas; six sons, Miguel Garcia Jr, Ismael Miguel Garcia, Alfredo Garcia, Fernando Atanasio Garcia and Efrain Santos Garcia, all of Weslaco, and Santiago “James” Garcia of Harlingen, Texas; four daughters, Maria De La Luz Garcia of Katy, Texas, Maria Sipriana Buchanan of Cypress, Texas, Olga Lydia Dominguez of Bay City, Texas and Dolores Concepcion De La Fuente of Houston, Texas; one brother, Santos Rodriguez Jr. of San Bernardino, Calif.; one sister, Concepcion Yarrito of Weslaco, Texas; 33 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Arrangements were under the direction of Guerra Funeral Home of Westlaco.
