Susana Mary “Susie” Rangel of Worland died on Friday May 16, 2008 at Worland Healthcare & Rehab Center in Worland at the age of 92.

Susie was born on April 4, 1916 in Monero, N.M., a daughter of Jose Amarante and Senaida (Garcia) Ramirez.

She married Jose M. Maya in 1933, and he died in California on February 26, 1944.  Susie then married Tomas “Tom” Rangel in Powell, in 1946, and the couple moved to Worland in 1948 where he worked on farms and she was a homemaker.

Susie enjoyed crocheting, knitting and making beautiful afghans which she shared generously with her children, grandchildren and friends.  She also liked to spend time with her grandsons and their families who lived in Worland.

She was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Worland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; her sons, Antonio Maya and Julian “Junior” Rangel; two granddaughters, Cindy Zettler and Jackie Woodward; by her brothers, Jose Adonais, Alfred and Phillip Ramirez; and by her sisters, Virginia Maya, Molly Ramirez, and Sydney Gonzales.

Susie is survived by her son Joe (Ruth) Maya of Worland; daughters Hope Guerra and Eleanor Rodriguez both of Chandler, Ariz. and Irene Rangel of Moses Lake, Wash.; a sister Carmen (Ernesto) Soto of Kenosha, Wisc.; and by her brothers Frank Ramirez of Chino, Calif., Gene (Socorro) Ramirez of Tacoma, Wash., and Joe (Helen) Ramirez of Powell. She also is survived by 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.

A Rosary service will be held on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Veile Mortuary Chapel in Worland. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 22nd at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Worland. Rite of Committal will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Worland.

Veile Mortuary is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
