Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell for Ralston resident Charles (Wayne) Mangus, 72, who died Saturday, March 11 after a long, hard battle with emphysema.
Despite his struggles at the end of his battle, he managed to hang on for his 72nd birthday and his 53rd wedding anniversary with his beloved wife, Donna Mae.
He was born in Lovell on Feb. 27, 1934, to Charles (Chon) and Violet Mangus. He married Donna Mae Laddusaw on Feb. 28, 1953, in Powell.
Wayne and Donna lived all over Park County, but spent most of their time in Farmington, N.M., before returning to Ralston in 1996. He was a dedicated employee of the Marathon Oil Company and El Paso Natural Gas and claimed among his greatest accomplishments the co-founding of the Chemical Dependency Center in Cody and the co-founding of the Park County Credit Union.
He was an aspiring artist, and painting was his passion. Before his death, he finished a series of three paintings of the Old Faithful area of which he was extremely proud. Painting kept him going, and with each vision came another painting that he needed to share. His family said that he will live on for them through his beautiful paintings.
Survivors include his wife Donna Mae; three daughters, Pam Tresler (Lee) and their children, Jennifer, Jeremy and Jana of Kalispell, Mont.; Peggy Tarr and her sons, Matthew, Chance, Justin and Cody of Cody; Suzie Claycomb and her children, Jessica and Kip of Cody; and a son, Thomas Rodney Mangus of Ralston. He is also survived by brother Bert (Evelyn) Mangus of Billings, Mont., and Jay (Peggy) Mangus of Worland; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Peggy Havig; and a niece, Diane Havig.
Burial will be in the Penrose Cemetery.
