Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Powell for Robert Louis Schuetz, 72, who died Tuesday, Dec. 13 at the Powell Hospital.

Father Pete Johnson will officiate at services and burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home.

He was born April 18, 1933, in Bridgeport, Nebr., son of Phillip and Virginia (Nunn) Schuetz. He was raised on a ranch south of Bridgeport and graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1950.

He married Beverley Jeane Willmott Oct. 25, 1952. His life’s work in the oil industry started with Ohio Oil Co., which later became Marathon Oil. He retired from Marathon in May of 1994.

His family meant everything to him, and he was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed camping, traveling, fine dining, golfing and was an avid walker. His family will remember him for his quick wit and his love of history, especially the study of the Lewis & Clark Expedition.

Survivors include his wife Beverley; five children, Lynn M. Belford, Beth A. (Steve) Schlenker, Robert L. Schuetz II, Rebecca J. (Karl) Schulz and Molly K. (Scott) Lynn; his father-in-law, Robert Willmott; two brothers, Phillip (Helen) Schuetz of Buena Park, Calif., and Joel (Pam) Schuetz of Cheyenne; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Donald.

Pallbearers at the funeral will be Aaron Lotten, Joshua Belford, Jared Belford, Devin Lynn, Donny Garrison and Michael Stearns.
