Funeral services are scheduled today (Thursday, Dec. 8) at the LDS Byron Ward Chapel at 11 a.m. for Rula Crosby Johnson, who died Saturday, Dec. 3 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was 90. Burial will be in the Cowley Cemetery. She was born Nov. 2, 1915, in Cowley to Rulon and Abigail Lindsay Crosby. She grew up in Cowley and graduated from high school there and later attended Billings Business College.
She married Milas R. Johnson Sept. 4, 1937. They lived most of their married life on a farm southwest of Byron. They were later sealed in the LDS temple in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1999.
She is survived by her daughter Gail Jones (Wayne) of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sons, Edd (Carla) of Sandy, Utah and Michael (Anne) of Casper; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; one sister, Ramona Policky of Rapid City, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.
Rula was active in the LDS church and served in many callings over the years. She was also supportive of all her children and grandchildren’s school and many other activities. She and Milas were fondly called Granny Cookie and Boppa Candy by their grandchildren and the many children they knew. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and many people have benefited from her talents.
Milas and Rula lived in Wyoming for many years and wanted to live there forever, but due to their health they moved to Salt Lake City in 1995 to be close to their two children, Gail and Edd and their families.
