With family beside her, Mary Steelman, 82, Powell, died Saturday morning, Nov. 19 at Billings Health & Rehab after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born in Burlington on Jan. 9, 1923, the ninth child of James and Annie Aagard, she grew up and attended school there. In 1939, she married Pleasant “Hap” Steelman, and to this union, three children were born: Deanna, Eddie and Norman. These children were the center of her life.

Mary ran a daycare for many years and loved all of the children very much. Her grandchildren referred to her as the “Queen of Garage Sales,” because she always had them come to help with a sale every summer.

She is survived by three sisters and a brother; two children; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, eight brothers and sisters, and her son Norman preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 26 at 1 p.m., at the LDS Church in Burlington. Casket will be open prior to services at the church on Saturday.
