Rob ‘Angel’ Jones

(March 25, 1979 - Sept. 28, 2017)

Loving husband and father Rob Jones, 38, died unexpectedly of an aneurysm at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, Sept. 28, 2017.

Rob was born on March 25, 1979, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended school in Powell, where Rob was raised by his adoptive father, Darrel VanDeest.

Rob met his future wife at the tender age of 18 and on Jan. 12, 2007, married his high school sweetheart Veronica (Salas). Together they had three beautiful children: Tyson (17), Tony (14), and Shawntay (12). His three children and wife were his rock.

His favorite times were with his family laughing, talking, and just spending time together. He was a hard worker and devoted father and husband.

Rob was known for his love of classic cars and loud music. He taught his kids how to work on old cars and detail the cars to look their finest. His family and friends knew him as a man of his word.  His beloved family will never forget his loving kindness. All who knew him well will miss Rob’s big heart.

Rob is survived by his wife and children; his adoptive father; brother Jessee (Savannah) Layland of Afton; father-in-law and mother-in-law Rogelio and Isabel Salas; sisters-in-law Sylvia (Omar) Salazar and Chris (Aaron) Moody; and brother–in-law Roy (Jackie) Salas; and 11 nieces and nephews, all of Powell.

Memorial has already taken place.

His family in Star Valley will miss him greatly. His mother Barbara Layland; step-father Jay Layland; brother Jesse Layland; sister Spring Layland; sister Jackie Layland; and 8 nieces and nephews, all of Afton, Wyoming.

Robert was generous and always giving of his time. He was looked up to by all those who knew him. His family will forever be thankful for the times they shared with him. He left a mark in all places he made a home.

I will miss him very much. He was a wonderful person. And loved by all. He is with God now. R.I.P Angel.
