Orville “Big O” Burger of Powell, loved by many, died Sept. 28, 2016, at the age of 77 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings. Born on March 30, 1939, in Powell, he spent his childhood in Powell, and after graduation from Powell High School, entered the U.S. Navy where he spent four years. Big O was always very proud of his military service.

Orville also attended Northwest Community College and then continued at the University of Wyoming majoring in electrical engineering. Orville married the love of his life, Patricia Anne Thomas, at the age of 21. They spent their time traveling, and enjoying their three children: Kevin, Kimberlee, and Krista. He was an electrician by trade and a proud member of I.B.E.W. He served in foreman as well as project manager roles. He lived life to the fullest: fishing, hunting, attending sporting events, and traveling around the country; he always called the outdoors his home.

He is survived by his three children Kevin Burger of Atlanta, Georgia, Kimberlee McConnell and her children, Connor, Kylie and Kenna of Somerset, Pennsylvania, and Krista Eaton of Missoula, Montana, as well as his brother Charles Burger and his sister Glo Reetz, both of Powell, and many nieces and nephews who loved him.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at Faith Community Church, 1267 Road 18 in Powell.

Memorial donations can be made to the Powell Athletic Roundtable in Orville’s memory as he loved watching his family’s children participate in Powell sports.
