Betty Lee Neumann, 76, of Lovell, died at West Park Hospital’s Spirit Mountain Hospice House on Aug. 21, 2013. She left this world to join her loving husband Randall and son Martin in heaven.

Betty was born in Thortnon on July 31, 1937, to Herbert Walker and Rebecca Howe. She was one of three daughters. Her family lived in various parts of Wyoming following her father’s job as a ranchhand and outdoorsman. A fondness for nature grew from her father’s example. She went on to enjoy many hours of camping, fishing and hunting well into her later years. This would carry over into her children’s lives as they all developed the same love for the outdoors.

Betty met and married Charles Norwood and from this union came one son and three daughters.

Later in life, Betty was fortunate enough to meet Randall Neumann, whom she instantly adored and married. Their love for one another continued to grow as they raised four children, and celebrated the coming of each grandchild, and later, great-grandchildren.

Betty and Randy were able to enjoy several years of camping trips with the family, creating lasting memories. The couple resided in Byron. There they were able to meet many great friends and neighbors; those meetings blossomed into lasting relationships that Betty always held dear to her heart. Both Betty and Randy were employed at Rocky Mountain High School.

Betty’s children remember well their mother’s green thumb and love of gardening. She was well-known to the community as an expert gardener and could name numerous plants and flowers with ease. Her favorite saying was, “You can never have enough flowers.”

She was also a seamstress, sewing yards of fabric that clothed her children and neighbors for years. One of her favorite sewing activities was making dolls for her grandchildren. Because of her four children, Betty also developed a love for cooking and food.

Her loved ones are comforted knowing she has made her journey into God’s kingdom.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Herbert E. Walker and Rebecca (Howe) Van Gundy; her husband Randall Neumann; sister Geraldine Davis; son Martin Neumann; and great-granddaughter Nicole Werner.

Survivors include her sister Theresa (Chuck) Brohaugh of Laurel, Mont.; daughters Ellen Larson of Townsend, Mont., Penny (Pat) Smith of Laurel and Brenda (Bryan) Helzer of Edgar, Mont; 11 grandchildren: Randy (Rebekah) Larson, Dustin Larson, Janice (Hal) Ward, Duane Werner, Kenny (Nikki) Werner, Bruce (Jennifer) Werner, Jacob Werner, Miranda (Derek) Evers, Mariah (Kevin) Roberts, Morgan Helzer, Melanie Helzer; great-grandchildren Calysta and Elyse Larson, Trey, Gunnar, Hayden, Graidy and Whalyn Ward, Kaylee and Kayden Werner, Alexyz, Trinity, Landon and Gentry Werner, Nicole and Oliver Roberts, Lily Bauwens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
