Frances L. Marks, 93, of Cody, died Jan. 15, 2013 at West Park Hospital Long Term Care Center in Cody.

Frances was born Jan. 26, 1919 in Belleview, Mich., to Melvin and Margaret Mosher. She graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School and was a nursing graduate of Epworth Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind.

As a World War II Army nurse, she survived the bombing and sinking of a hospital ship in the Atlantic and served in field hospitals in North Africa and Italy. After her marriage to Fred Marks, she continued her nursing career at West Park County Hospital in Cody for 33 years.

Frances was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Olive Branch Rebekah Lodge.

An avid oil painter, she will be remembered for her landscapes of Wyoming.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred, son Thomas, daughter Jo Ann and brothers Warren and Phillip Mosher.

She is survived by her daughters Ruth (Dean) Lewallen of Casper and Barbara Marks of Bloomington, Ind.; grandchildren Tom (Dawn) Lewallen of Cody, Regina (Brian) Juhl of Casper, Keith Lewallen of Casper; six great-grandchildren: Todd (Elizabeth) Lewallen, Tavia Lewallen, William and Christopher Juhl, Kyra and Jarrin Lewallen; great-great-granddaughter Temprance Lewallen of Casper; brother Donald Mosher of Naples, Fla.; sister Estella (Stephen) Latowski of South Bend, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the American Cancer Society.

A funeral service for Frances was held Sunday, Jan. 20 at the First Presbyterian Church in Cody. Interment was Jan. 21. at Riverside Cemetery.
