Wilma was born in Sutton, Clay County, Neb. on Feb. 5, 1911 to Murray Glen McLaughlin and Julia Cathrine McLaughlin. At the age of 4, the family moved to Basin where she attended the Basin schools through high school. She went to college in Kearney, Neb. and earned a degree in Library Science.
Wilma married Clyde Byron Morris on Jan. 1, 1934. They lived in Hyattville, then Basin and had four children. In 1943, the family moved to South Fork, above Cody, where they lived and farmed until 1963, then moved to Cody.
Thereafter, Wilma taught in two rural schools; one near Douglas and the other at Valley School on South Fork. She then taught third grade at Sunset School in Cody until she retired in 1976.
Wilma was an avid reader, enjoyed history, hiking, rock collecting, nature and wildlife. She belonged to the Wyoming Historical Society and the Archeology Society.
Wilma is survived by her son Marvin Morris of Cody; daughters Esther Morris of Boise, Idaho, Martha Cook of Farmington, N.M.; grandchildren Lisa Davis and Melissa Fredrickson both of Las Vegas, Nev., Steve Johnson of Fallon, Nev., Colleen Higgins of College Station, Texas, Carma Morris of Boise, Idaho, Martin Morris of Boise, Idaho, Murray Morris of Sammamish, Wash., Tammy O’Keefe and Debby Cuccio, both of Denver, Colo., Cory Cook of Phoenix, Ariz., Christy Hilde of Boise, Idaho; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister Mina Cook; and brothers George McLaughlin and Bill McLaughlin.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Morris; brothers Laurie McLaughlin, Murray McLaughlin and Irwin McLaughlin; and sisters Julia Morris, Rita Morris and Shirley McLaughlin.
Private burial next to her husband at Bull Creek Cemetery was Monday, Dec. 17. A memorial service will be held on June 17, 2013 at Ballard Funeral Home for friends and family.
