It’s Country Christmas time in Powell this weekend.

The annual celebration begins at noon Friday when The Commons will host a Country Christmas Gift Expo sponsored by the Powell Valley Chamber of Commerce. Thirty-five sellers will have booths at the event, which will remain open until 8 p.m. The Chamber will serve bratwurst sausages, and Powell Bucks will be available for purchase during the event.

The Expo will continue Saturday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. with Chamber Ambassadors serving chili and cinnamon rolls.

Pictures with Santa will be available at Plaza Diane from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Country Christmas Committee also is sponsoring a display and silent auction of Everlasting Wreaths at Plaza Diane. Individuals and groups have been invited to enter wreaths they have created, and visiters will vote for their favorite wreaths. The winner of the people’s choice award will receive $75. Second place prize is $50 and third place $25.

Shelby Wetzel of the Country Christmas Committee said wreath entries will be accepted until Friday.

Entertainment for Country Christmas will be provided on the Plaza by Stomp and Company Cloggers at 10 a.m. and by Absaroka Mountain Thunder Cloggers at 2 p.m.

Saturday’s activity closes with the lighted Christmas Parade beginning at 5:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Songs of Christmas.” Entries are still needed and will be accepted through Friday.

On Sunday, the annual Tour of Homes opens from 1-5 p.m. Eight homes are on the tour as well as the First United Methodist Church, which will serve as a refreshment stop.
